Top 10 List of Nigerian Gospel Singers 2019

Nigerian gospel singers have done a great job of expanding and promoting gospel music in the country and the world as a whole……..let’s give them some accolades.

I will now be giving the list of top ten gospel singers in Nigeria below though none of them made it to the list of top 10 wealthiest Nigerian musicians.

  1. Sammie Okposo

Number one on my list of Nigerian gospel music artistes is Sammie Okposo.
He has been a gospel singer for so long, he is a Nigerian gospel artist, a psalmist, a music consultant and also the CEO of Zamar entertainment.
He was born on the 30th of May 1971 and has been a gospel singer since 1992, he won the best of Africa award at the SABC crown music awards in April 2018. Sammie is a United Nation Youth Ambassador for world peace.

  1. Frank Edwards

I have here also another Nigerian gospel music artiste – Frank Edwards born on 22nd of July 1989.
He is a Christian singer, song writer and recording artist from Enugu State.
He is the founder and the owner of the record label Rocktown records. This record label records song for other gospel artistes also.
He started his career as a gospel singer in 2007 and he is still one till date.

  1. Osinachi Joseph

This Nigerian gospel music singer and song writer is popularly known as Sinach. She was born on the 30th of March 1973, she is known for her songs globally.
She is a worship leader at Believers Loveworld International and she has won lots of awards and has contributed a great deal to the growth of gospel music in Nigeria.
She has also released more than ten albums since the start of her career.

  1. Lara George

Lara George is also on my list of top 10 gospel artistes in Nigeria, she is one of the top Nigerian gospel musicians, song writer and producer. She was born in Lagos state.
She has been singing far back as 1997 and has won several Awards such as voice of the year at Nigerian music Awards in 2008, Best African female gospel artiste at the African gospel music Awards in 2011 to mention a few.
She was a member of the disbanded musical group called Kush which includes Ty bello, Dapo Torimiro and Emem  Ema.

  1. Samson Uche Mogekwu

This Nigerian gospel music singer is not left out on my list of top Nigerian gospel artistes.
He is popularly known as Samsong. He was born in one of the richest states of Nigeria– Delta state, on the  30th of November 1974.
He is a singer, song writer and a minister. He started his musical career in 1990 and has since then won a lot of Awards.
He has graced the stage to perform with the likes of Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Winans, Ponam paul etc.

  1. Emmanuel Benjamin

Emmanuel Benjamin
I have also on my list of top gospel artiste Emmanuel Benjamin, he is a singer and song writer.
He began his music career as a gospel singer in 1997. He has his own record label called Hammer House of rock.
He has won lots of Awards since he came to the limelight. Few of the Awards are Best male artist and Best gospel video from National gospel Awards Nigeria, Album of the year from crystal awards etc.
His songs topped gospel music chart both locally and internationally.

  1. Tope Alabi

She is a gospel singer popularly known for Yoruba gospel songs. Tope Alabi was born 27th October 1970.
This super talented woman is a song writer and producer, she composes music sound tracks for Yoruba Nollywood movies.
She is from Yewa Imeko in Ogun state Nigeria and has produced over five albums and over 800 soundtracks to Yoruba movies.

  1. Esther Igbekele

Another Nigerian gospel music artiste on my list of top ten gospel singers is Esther Igbekele. She is known as the Duchees of gospel music.
She started singing professionally in 1996 and has since then contributed a lot to the gospel music industry.
She has produced eleven music albums to her name………you will agree with me that she’s worth being on this list of top 10.

  1. Nathaniel Bassey

Nathaniel bassey
My list will be incomplete without this Nigerian musician, he is a singer and a saxophonist. He was born 1978 In Lagos Nigeria.
His popular songs are Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro, this God is good etc.
He started the Halleluyah challenge on Facebook and Instagram where people connect over the internet to praise and worship God for an hour all through the month Of June 2017. This made him known to more people all over the world.

  1. Timothy Chukwudi Godfrey

The last on my list of top Nigerian gospel artists is Tim Godfrey as he is mostly called.
He is a singer song writer, music producer and director. He started his musical career in 2004 and has risen to become one of the top gospel singers of our time.
He has created a niche for himself and people even call him the Nigerian Kirk Franklin and Tyre Tibett.
