Anthony Joshua Injured in Fatal Car Crash in Ogun State


 

British boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident in Ogun State, Nigeria, which claimed the lives of two people.

Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries after the Lexus SUV he was travelling in collided with a stationary truck in Makun, about 30 miles from Lagos. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., according to the Ogun State Police Command.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said preliminary findings suggest the vehicle was speeding and lost control while overtaking before crashing into the parked truck.

Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle, which also carried four other adult men. Videos circulating on social media show the former world heavyweight champion appearing dazed and in visible pain as bystanders assisted him out of the damaged SUV.

Police confirmed that Joshua was conscious and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Two people were confirmed dead at the scene, though their identities have not yet been made public. The FRSC said the remaining two passengers in the vehicle escaped without injury.
